This book project was very different from my usual design work. While I often incorporate playful colors and illustrated details into my projects, creating a fully illustrated book for children and parents was a completely new challenge. Designing each spread was incredibly time-intensive, but it pushed me to experiment with illustration in a way I hadn’t before.
A large part of the process involved testing different brushes in Procreate and seeing how they translated once vectorized in Adobe Illustrator, which gave the final artwork a unique texture and style. The finished book also includes varnished and pop-up elements to make the reading experience more interactive. To make the project even more personal, the main character was modeled after my own dog, Emmie.
